Vacation

We are back from San Diego. Aside from our trip down there we had a wonderful time. We left at 1pm on Thursday assuming the boys would sleep on the way down. They fell asleep 15 minutes before we arrived at the hotel. I knew it was bad when we weren't even out of the Valley and Danny said, "Are we there yet?" I think I heard this about 150 more times combined with this trip is too long and Holden screaming. Our CD player wasn't working so all the books I had on tape couldn't be used.

We arrived at our hotel and were pleasantly surprised by our room. We decided to splurge and get a suite. IT wasn't that much more but double the size of a regular room and we had a huge patio. The first night we walked down to the beach which is about 1 block away and had dinner outside at a brew pub. Even without naps the boys were up late. Friday morning after breakfast at "Claytons"a 50's coffee shop we headed for legoland. We stayed until almost closing and Danny and Holden soaked it up..(literally) We've decided 4 is the perfect age for Legoland and an almost 3 year old that idolizes his brother isn't so bad either. The boys went on every ride they could and Danny loved the new water area. We spent more then an hour in the mini lego area with the cities. Danny was absolutely fascinated with the cities. When we went to the section where the engineers were building the legos he wanted to go inside. We finally left at about 4:15 but only because Dave and I were so exhausted. On the way back to the hotel we took the beach route knowing the freeway would be terrible.

Saturday morning Holden was the first one up. He came in to our room saying, "IT's sunnytime" IT was just 6am. Lucky for us he went back to sleep until 7:30. We ate and then went to Balboa Park home of tons of museums. We spent over 2 hours in the Aviation museum. There is no doubt these boys have inherited their father's love for airplanes. Surprisingly Holden more then Danny. Holden already knows different types of planes. They sat and watched some of the educational movies and sat in several different airplanes. Holden had a slight obsession with a red kit airplane. HE must have sat in it about 50 times and cried everytime he had to get out to share with another child. After the airplane we had lunch and decided to let the boys run around a park at Mission Bay. We weren't having a repeat of the drive down. On the way back Holden was asleep within 10 minutes and slept peacefully for 2 hours. Almost as soon as he woke up Danny fell asleep for an hour. We came home and threw some laundry in the washer and headed for Pop-Pop's house. With no food in the fridge Pop-Pop offered to cook us dinner.

Dave took tons of pictures but our computer crashed the day we left. We had already decided we were buying a new one when we returned but I won't be able to post pictures for a little while.
