Well I figured enough was done to take some pictures. They've made lots of progress. The crew is really nice. There are usually 3 guys here everyday. They are really neat and work fast and don't seem to mind the kids. The cabinet building started today with 3 guys in the shop working on those for completion in about 7-10 days.
So we have most of the demo work done. IT was a little bit more of a job then they expected. Today they took out the white built in cabinet. It's amazing how much more room we have in the living room now with that out. The plan is to move the piano to the other end of that room. The new built in will go along the back wall behind the staircase and it will be distressed black and hold either a 52 or 55 inch flat screen with room for all the equipment and some drawers.
Tomorrow the rest of the tile comes up. I asked them today if they could take out the fireplace/mantel step. IT will give us a little more space and probably look nicer with the table in there. I'll have to find somewhere else to do time-outs.
We got our appliances on Sunday and they were a good deal so we bought them early. The hardest part was selecting the backsplash tile. WE went to a bunch of places and kept getting the it's your kitchen comments. So I went by myself to a place out here and the guy was really good. WE ended up picking some glass mosiac tiles that are combined with slate. I took some pictures but you don't really see much with them. Of course, they are the most expensive way to go but we are only using them behind the stove. The rest of the backsplash area will be granite.

Looks great! I love the color of the cabinets and the view from the dining room. I also like the back splash, that is a great touch. I can't wait to see it. Aunt Judy
